FAQ

If you have a question regarding the AES67 Stream Monitor you can write a mail to info [at] aes67.app.

What stream formats are supported?
In general all formats defined by the AES67 Standard are supported. To be more precise, uncompressed L16 and L24 PCM audio with up to 8 channels is supported. Any packet time within the AES67 specification is supported (from 125µs up to 4ms). Also all samplerates (e.g. 44100Hz, 48000Hz and 96000Hz) are supported if your soundcard supports these samplerates.
What discovery types are supported?
Streams are automatically discovered that are announced using the Session Announcement Protocol. You can use the RAV2SAP tool to translate between RAVENNA mDNS/RTSP discovery and SAP. It is also possible to add streams manually using raw SDP. To add a stream manually go to Settings > Add Stream via SDP. Manually added streams can be announced on the network using SAP for other devices.
Can the AES67 Stream Monitor be used with Dante Devices?
The majority of Dante devices support AES67 and thus the AES67 Stream Monitor can be used to monitor them. For a guide on how to enable AES67 compatibility on your Dante device see our post Configure AES67 on Dante devices. The same applies to Q-Lan, Ravenna and Livewire devices, though configuration of AES67 streams is different. Please consult the manual of your device in this case.
Are unicast streams supported?
The AES67 Stream Monitor does not support SIP. Though it is still possible to receive unicast streams when adding the stream manually as described under What discovery types are supported?.
Is AES67 the same as Dante?
No, Dante and AES67 are not the same, but Dante and AES67 are compatible. For more information on how to enable AES67 compatibility on your Dante device see our post Configure AES67 on Dante devices.
Is Dante AES67 compliant?
Yes, the majority of Dante devices are AES67 compliant. For more information on how to enable AES67 compatibility on your Dante device see our post Configure AES67 on Dante devices.
